Computer games to Robotics to overall Tech Camps
High-Tech Girlz Day (Kirkwood Community College)
On Friday, October 23, 2009, the Business & Information Technology Department is hosting the 2nd Annual High-Tech Girlz Day from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. During this event, girls in 9th through 12th grade have the opportunity to participate in four lab sessions, including: • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) • LAN Management (Local Area Networking) • Computer Programming • Web Graphics. The girls that attend will also receive a free lunch, t-shirt and flash drive. Our goal with this event is to break down stereotypes and allow young women to further understand the countless career directions within Technology. Girls need to sign up in advance on the website: www.kirkwood.edu/techgirlz. After registering, a confirmation email will be sent along with a photo release for the day.
Iowa State University - Summer Camps -- ISEK – Iowa State Engineering Kids
Variety of summer camps for grades 3 – 8. Check out the latest technology, awesome engineering activities, not to mention toy around with some amazing robotics.

Female students in grades 6 - 12, learning about non-traditional roles and careers, including technology

Scholarships

Iowa State University (E2020)
The Iowa State University College of Engineering is offering a four-year, need-based, $10,000 E2020 scholarship to high school seniors and transfer students from across Iowa who have been accepted to Iowa State’s College of Engineering. The scholarships will be paid in the amount of $2,500 per year for up to four years. Approximately 24 E2020 scholarships will be awarded each year. The deadline for application is March 15. Iowa State University - Engineering Talent in Every County (E-TEC)
The Iowa State University College of Engineering is offering 70 $500 E-TEC scholarships to high school seniors and transfer students from across Iowa who have declared engineering as their program of study at Iowa State. Paragon IT Professionals
Paragon offers a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior from the Greater Des Moines area who intends to pursue a degree in computer science or related area of study. Apply at http://www.paragonitpros.com/scholarship.aspx.
